Become a Youth Minister

Why Youth Ministers?

The Archdiocese of Canberra & Goulburn wants to invite young people into the life and mission of the Catholic Church.

Your Role?

Youth Ministers are a decentralized, partnership model across the Archdiocese incorporating both parish communities and Catholic schools. The Youth Minister seeks to establish a vision for evangelisation of students from school into local Church communities. Whilst primarily based in the parish/school, the Youth Ministers will work together as a team to conduct Archdiocesan events. In addition, the Youth Minister is a member of the Youth Ministers International Network that provides training, formation and resources.

We are looking for post-school young people to come into paid positions across the Archdiocese and support the development, implementation and growth of Youth Ministry. The role will involve the development of parish youth faith formation Initiatives, the development of pathways from school to Church, assisting in the implementation of the student ministry models within the schools and participation in Archdiocesan events

CG Youth Ministers and Youth Ministers International

All Youth Ministers are a part of Youth Ministers International (YMI). YMI is a work of Catholic Schools Youth Ministry Australia (CSYMA) and is network that forms, equips and resources post-school youth ministers engaged in a year of mission whilst actively participating in the life of the Catholic Church. Just like the CG Youth Ministers, the YMI network supports young people engaged in a local placement on a part-time or full-time basis within schools, Church communities or Catholic Education Offices. ACU accredited Signum Fidei certificates are incorporated within the YMI Formation and Mission Pathway.
